Last week I had the week off work ((yay!)) so i decided to take some time off from the stress of uni work and head to Devon to visit my family for a few days. I was so excited because I hadn’t seen my family since my birthday in July … perhaps the longest i’ve ever gone without seeing my dogs ((if you don’t know me you’ll soon find out that I’m dog obsessed)). After a stressful train ride full of platform changes and busy carriages I finally arrived in not-so-sunny Devon to crazy wind and rain. I soon realised that our plans to go to the beach for a wintery walk that afternoon were ruined, so instead I spent the afternoon catching up with my mum, sister and dogs ((my family’s two gorgeous Chihuahuas Teddy and Murphy)).
After a relaxing afternoon, me and mum decided to head out for dinner and we ended up in the Thatch … if you haven’t been to Croyde before it’s a cute little pub that does the best nachos ever ((as you can see from mum’s happy face below)) … you have to try them!
Normally small pubs in Devon aren’t so good at offering much of a selection of veggie options but the Thatch is pretty decent with choices. I opted for the veggie enchiladas with refried beans, rice and salad, and it was yummy!!
After dinner we were both in that happy // full bliss, so we came home, got snug in our pjs and watched I’m a celeb. The next day we finally got to wrap up warm and ventured out to Instow beach for a long walk.
The dogs loved it and we got them some fish from the chip shop on the way home … they were in doggy heaven!!
In the evening I went out for dinner with my Dad, Nan and Granddad. Again, I was spoilt for vegetarian options and I had baked Camembert with potatoes and salad.
On the Saturday it was time to travel back to Bath and my family got the train to Bristol with me, and we spent the day shopping. It was so lovely and Christmassy, and although the christmas market wasn’t as big as our one in Bath the Christmas decorations were fabulous – I’ve finally started to feel festive!!
Although it was packed ((due to Black Friday weekend)), it was so nice to spend the day with my family, and start my Christmas shopping. I also got some fabulous bargains in my favourite high street stores, and managed to do a mini clothes haul – i’m definitely prepared for winter now with lots of warm jumpers and a few Christmassy tops to keep me feeling festive ((expect a post over the next few weeks)).
Hope you all had a great Black Friday weekend and also managed to get some bargains!
